Vintage MINIATURE HAND MADE TOY FISHING ROD w CARVED & PAINTED FISH, c. 1900-30

Description

This is a vintage miniature hand made toy fishing rod with a working reel that has a carved and painted wooden fish attached to a line, circa 1900 to 1930s, or so. The rod is 9 3/4" long overall with a 2 7/8" long round wooden handle. The little reel is 1/2" in diameter and has a slot for the line. It does work and you can turn the handle and reel in the line with the fish. The guides are fine wire wrapped around the rod itself. The condition is original and excellent with nice old color and patina, but the line looks to be replaced with a more modern fine monofilament. The fish is painted green with a red eye, and all the fins are cut pieces of tin that are set into the body. I am guessing that this may have been a father's gift to his child, and it was just found in New England. Shipping is .00 First Class mail.
