Today we are delighted to offer for sale a wonderful antique shoulder china head doll which dates to the late 19th c.  This doll has the low brow, center part, and curly hair style of the 1890s and is undoubtedly German made. This is a good sized doll, measuring 18". Her face is well painted with good color in her cheeks and blue eyes. The doll's head is attached to the kid body at the shoulders. The kid leather body is articulated at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees and stuffed with sawdust. Her forearm and one hand are bisque and her feet are made of a knit material with leather shoes.  She is dressed in a simple striped chemise with long sleeves and a ruffled ribbon edge and tie at the neckline. She has a full cotton slip trimmed in lace, long bloomers also trimmed in lace, and black knit stockings. Doll is in very good antique as-found, untouched condition. The doll's dress is dirty and the underclothes are yellowed from age. Head is excellent. The is a rip in the kid leather body at the knee. She is missing one hand, broken off at the wrist. Stand not included.
