    Antique Straw Doll Hat Civil War Era c. 1860 Rare French Fashion.
    This listing is only for the Antique Hat.
    This a rare black straw and black silk velvet French Fashion Civil War Era doll hat. The hat is in excellent condition for its age. The hat has velvet covered wire around the rim that has a wave scallop formation design. The black straw is course and has a 3 dimensional raised edge that gives it a rough tactile feel. The brim is is shaped with deep curves that sweep up and down all around the hat. The inside of the brim is antique silk velvet. The velvet is also in really good condition. There is a black velvet bow on the back of the hat. There is a antique purple velvet ribbon with olive green edging that surrounds the crown of the hat, the same ribbon was used for the sash ties. A beautiful full black antique feather plume drapes off to the side. A antique olive green velvet leaf and purple velvet flower beautifully embellish the hat. The hat is approximately 3 1/2” in the inside crown. Because of the velvet ties and the positioning of the hat it can accommodate several sizes. The China head used to model the hat has a circumference of 11.5 “.
    Please do not bid on this antique treasure if you are not passionate about faded glory and grandeur. This original black straw hat is over 150 years old. There is wear and rough spots on the edge of the brim. There are a couple small breaks in the straw. There is wear to the velvet all commiserate with age.
    The dove collection added the antique velvet straps and the really choice antique velvet flower.
    The antique velvet flower has been in my collection of flowers for over 40 years! I was happy this little flower found a worthy home on this desirable antique Civil War Era doll hat.
