Lovely size "Helen", an old fashioned beauty Very pretty, c.1905, antique china, turned shoulderhead, (only) doll head, "HELEN", measuring, 4-11/16" tall , & shoulder span is approximately 3.5" across(will make a lovely doll) with nice shoulders and deeply molded, lowbrow blond hairstyle including lots of curls all around and deep center-part and lots of beautiful comb marks . She has a nicely molded blouse (front and back) with good raised detail including collar, bow and her name all decorated with gold paint, exceptionally pretty, cornflower blue painted eyes , with lovely expression, double eyelid lines, blond eyebrows, nostril marks, pretty butterfly shaped mouth with lip dividing line and lovely blushed cheeks. Deeply incised on the back: Patent Applied For/Germany . She was made in Germany by Hertwig & Co. described in detail in, "Identifying German China"-Krombholz , as being of finer quality than the later "common" low-brow chinas due in part to the  exposed ears and the deep modeling of her hair. Distributed by Butler Bros., N.Y. she was one of a group of "Pet Name" china dolls that were sold separately or with cloth "ABC" printed cloth bodies . Manufacturer's records shown that there were much fewer blond chinas produced than those with brunette hair, about one-third blond and two-thirds brunette, making them harder to find today. She is in excellent condition having no damages, no cracks, no chips, no flakes or hairlines, no repairs, no stains and no odors.  Please refer to the photos as they are part of the description.
