Description
Here we have a gorgeous circa 1860s High Brow China Head Doll with beautiful features that are still very clearly painted, and just two very small rubs on the back of her head. Her eyes are blue with the lovely apricot lid line which is prevalent in all dolls of great value. Her cheeks have that delicate blush to them and her lips are scarlett heart shaped. Perfection! Her body appears to be the original one as it has been patched many times and despite this, it is still tightly stuffed with sawdust. We have secured all patches and there is no leakage. Her leg material and arm material is made of heavier stuff, not muslin, as is her body, but a woven material, which appears to have been replaced about 1880 when new arms and legs were placed on the doll. We recieved the doll with broken legs and only one arm. We were able to match the the existing arm and replaced the legs with ones of the 1880s to 1900s age range that were recovered from a dig in Germany. Both the arms and legs are stuffed with cotton batting and this was left in place when the appendages were replaced. All appendages were reattached securely to the body in order to last another 140 years. She wears white pantalettes and a white lace trimmed camisole. Her pink and cream satin gown is tea length and edged with wide cream-colored lace. Her bodice is cream satin with a neckline made up of tiny pink ribbon roses to match her satin skirt. In back, there is a bustle of the pink satin and row upon row of cream lace in an inverted-V which flows out to a huge hemline. Cream lace abounds on this dress: at the bodice, the sleeves, and the hemline. Underneath, there is a lace trimmed crinoline. The entire dress is a magnificent confection.PAYMENT
