Description
ANTIQUE 1900s GERMAN "FANNY ELSLEER" HALF DOLL PIN CUSHIONUp for auction today, is a 1900s half doll made my German porcelain factory, F&W Goebel. Goebel was in production from 1876-1930s and is best known today for their Hummel figurines. The doll was made by the Goebel Company from their Historic Series. The doll was listed in their Historic Series as model 103 named "Fanny Elssler di Wiener Tanzerin, 1830" honoring the famed 19th century Viennese ballerina. The doll has her
arms and hands extended outward demonstrating the pieces' delicate craftsmanship. The figurine has rosy cheeks, blue eyes, and blond curls. Her hair is held in a bun with an intricate ribbon. In her hair are a string of blue and red beads adorned with pink and yellow flowers. The doll sits atop a light brown pin cushion, held on by a green ribbon. On the front of the pin cushion are decorative roses made of cloth and wire. Impressed on the base of the doll is a crown symbol and WG initials. These markings indicate the doll was produced by Goebel post-1900. The doll is 4.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches wide. The pin cushion is 4.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide. The doll is in very good condition. Light residue in the crooks of the dolls arm and hair piece. The pin cushion is in fair condition. The cushion's color is faded and it is fraying at the top. The doll is only loosely tied to the top of the cushion.
