    Description

24” Low Brow Blonde Hair China Doll in Gorgeous Vintage Helen Victoria Dress
This exquisitely dressed china doll was in my husband's grandmother's collection.
She is 24”long and her head circumference is 11-3/4”.
She has no marks on her upper back so I have no information other than what Grandmother’s tag says which is “M301
    254
    C62
    pp40.”
I have no idea what any of this means but perhaps it will mean something to someone.
Per the price on Grandmother’s tag, she was an old and very expensive doll.
Blonde porcelain china dolls like her (if German) were most likely manufactured in the 1880s-1890s when blonde china dolls were in favor in Germany.
Her porcelain head and arms are in great shape with no issues.
Her porcelain legs are detailed such that they look like they have vertical stripes or stockings.
Her boots are a pearled color with pick and sea foam green flowers and top outline (see photos).
I can find no evidence of chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs on any part of her body.
Her head is slightly turned to the right and her blue eyes look upward.
Her vintage dress with gorgeous train is exquisitely detailed and photos are included of all sides.
It is also SUPER old and had I realized it was so fragile, I would not have undressed her for photos.
The dress is clearly a designer “Helen Victoria” labeled dress (see photos) and may be manufactured of real silk.
(It certainly feels like real silk.)
Unfortunately, when I removed the top, both sleeves split between the elbows and shoulders. (Please particularly look at last 2 photos.
The initial photos were taken pre-disrobing/sleeve tears.).
The good news is that the dress is the same color as her cloth body so it’s not super noticeable but it makes me absolutely sick none the less.
The dress material is so fragile that even very carefully removing her clothing, I didn’t realize it was happening!
There were other preexisting tears/issues on her dress of which I’ve tried to include photos.
Again, she can be positioned so that they are not obvious/seen, but they are there.
Perhaps someone knows how to repair or reinforce such fragile vintage material.
The pink ribbon on her underdress is also super fragile and cracking.
Underneath, she wears bloomers and a snuggly fitting undershirt.
The discoloration on her bodice and undershirt is from now removed very old foam “breasts” which had completely disintegrated due to extreme age.
Her cloth body is in excellent condition to be well over 100 years old.
She does not come with a stand.
Her last three homes in our family have been non-smoking; no odor.
    As is.
She will be wrapped very carefully and safely for shipping with tracking or is available for pickup in Downtown Houston.
    Please e-mail any questions.
I am only the inheritor of a doll collection but I will do my best to answer.
